Privacy Policy

Before you publish: this is a working draft prepared for the Amigos Outdoors app. It must be reviewed by a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction, and your company details completed, before you rely on it in an app store submission.

This policy explains what Amigos Outdoors ("we", "the app") collects, why, and what choices you have.

Information you give us

Account details: your name, email address, username and password. Passwords are stored only as a salted scrypt hash — we never store, and cannot read, your actual password.
Profile content: your bio, location, interests and profile photo.
Content you create: posts, photographs, captions, comments and direct messages.
Orders: shipping name, address and phone number for gear you purchase.
Booking requests: the details you send an outfitter, which are shared with that outfitter so they can respond.

Information collected automatically

A hashed form of your IP address, kept in security logs to detect abuse.
Device push tokens, if you enable notifications.
Basic request logs (endpoint, timestamp, status) for reliability and security.

We do not collect precise device location. Any location shown on your profile or posts is text you typed yourself.

How we use it

To operate your account and show your content to the people you intend.
To process and ship orders, and to notify the relevant vendor.
To pass booking requests to the outfitter you selected.
To send transactional email: verification, password resets and order confirmations.
To keep the community safe — reviewing reports and enforcing our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to target third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

Payment processor: card details are entered directly with our processor. Card numbers never reach our servers.
Vendors: receive the items ordered and the shipping address needed to fulfil them.
Outfitters: receive the booking request you submit, including your name and email.
Email provider: to deliver transactional messages.
Law enforcement: only where legally required.

Your choices and rights

Delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete My Account. This removes your profile, posts, comments, likes and messages. Order records are retained in anonymised form because we are required to keep financial records.
Access and correction: edit your profile in the app, or email us for a copy of your data.
Notifications: control push and email preferences in Settings.
Blocking: block any member to stop them contacting you or seeing your posts.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA, including portability and the right to object. Contact us to exercise them.

Retention

Account content is kept until you delete it or close your account. Security logs are kept for 12 months. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Children

Amigos Outdoors is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Passwords are hashed with scrypt. Sessions use short-lived access tokens and single-use refresh tokens. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of any breach affecting it as required by law.
